Heart Rock Herb & Spice Co.

Heart Rock Herb & Spice Co. from Stateline, Nevada, near Lake Tahoe was founded by Diane who not only loves cooking but also has a passion for gardening. As she says on her website, most gardeners despise rocks in their gardens; however, Diane doesn’t mind them when they resemble hearts. As a collector of heart-shaped rocks, she was amazed at the number she dug up when she planted her hillside garden. So many were found that she and her husband Phil named their Lake Tahoe property, Heart Rock Ridge and they only found it natural and fitting that her company would be named Heart Rock Herb & Spice Co.

Whether you’re a new or “seasoned” cook, as Diane says, you’ll enjoy discovering her delicious handcrafted herb & spice blends. These spice blends consist of the finest herbs and spices available! Every blend is handcrafted in small quantities to ensure a fresh product. They also have no additives, preservatives, or MSG, and all the ingredients are listed. All of Heart Rock’s blends are also gluten and soy free. Blends that contain brown sugar have a natural anti-caking agent made from rice hulls, called Nu-Flow.

The whole idea behind mixing a bunch of herbs and spices together to make “spice blends” is summed up with this statement from a longtime customer from South Lake Tahoe, who states “I’ll definitely be getting some more spice blends from you, it’s nice to have fresh, already mixed blends that I can just add into whatever I’m cooking, instead of having to get out 4-8 (most likely stale) spices and measure them all out!”

Heart Rock Herb & Spice Co. offers high-quality blends hand blended in small quantities for guaranteed freshness, and with over 85 herb & spice blends they are a great source of fresh flavor, and they are available for your next Ranch Box Order! Be sure to check out some of the amazing products like  Coffee~Chile~Chocolate, French Fry Seasoning, Tahoe Lemon Pepper, and Moroccan ~ Ras el Hanout, which is a great sub for Curry!

Diane donates 10%  of her company’s yearly net profits, split between two non-profit organizations where she volunteers her time; a food program that feeds the less fortunate of South Lake Tahoe called Bread & Broth, where she serves as a volunteer cook and Cook Coordinator as well as the former Director, and the historic George Whittell Thunderbird Lodge where she’s a Master Gardener and former Garden Coordinator.

Diane also belongs to a national non-profit called Lasagna Love which began in 2020 as a way to feed those in need;  whether it be hospital personnel, unemployed, overworked, over-stressed, or those just needing a home-cooked lasagna. She delivers homemade lasagna pans every week of the year from South Lake Tahoe requests. She says “It feeds them as well as my soul.”
