GARDNERVILLE, Nev. – Agriculture and art meet at the “cowboyest holiday faire” to ever grace the Carson Valley. The region’s artisans, crafters and ag students show their wares and demonstrate the ag life at the 4th Annual Ag & Artisan Holiday Faire Saturday, Dec. 7, at the historic Storke Dairy, 876C Centerville Lane in Gardnerville, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event features holiday shopping with local artisans and crafters, exhibits and demonstrations from students of 4-H and The Keystones, an exhibit of antique farm implements found on the property during renovations and tractor rides. Santa makes an appearance between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for family selfies during the event.
This year’s show is dedicated to world-renowned chef and author Charlie Abowd, who met with folks and signed copies of his book, Recipes and Rambles That Made Adele’s a Nevada Hot Spot, co-authored by Karel Ancona at last year’s 3rd annual event. Abowd, who passed away in early November will be represented by a member of his inner circle at this year’s faire, with his books available for sale.
Inside the heated barn, Santa will have a selfie station from 11:30-1:30, local artisans will have items for sale, including handcrafted sterling silver jewelry, goat milk soaps and lotions, country charm decor and gifts, decadent gluten-free desserts, western art and apparel, hand-made wood American flag art, beeswax candles, honeys, jams, household items, kettle corn and more – all locally created.
Valley Eats NV mobile food service will provide hot food, the Farm Bureau Ag Wagon makes its first faire appearance, and an adult hot chocolate bar (with some for the kids) donates proceeds to local ag education….and so much more!
